Outdoor care for artificial flowers

Sun

Our outdoor bundles carry a UV-resistant finish. It slows fading and does not stop it. A box that faces south or west takes the most direct sun, and strong colors like red and fuchsia show it first.

Turn the box or swap the front and back bundles every few weeks, and the fading evens out. In high summer, a box under an overhang keeps its color longer than one in open sun.

Rain and wind

Rain does no harm to silk and plastic petals. After a storm, give each bundle a shake and bend any stem that has flattened back into place.

Wind pulls light bundles out of loose foam. Push the stems deeper, or put a layer of soil or gravel on top of the foam to weigh the box down.

Cleaning

Dust and pollen dull a color faster than people expect. Rinse bundles with a gentle spray from a garden hose, or wipe the leaves with a dry cloth. Let them dry in the shade before you put them back.

A petal or a leaf comes off

On our outdoor bundles the flowers and leaves clip onto the stems, and one can come loose in shipping or on a windy day. Push it back onto the stem where it came from.

Winter

Snow and ice will not hurt the bundles, but a box looks bare in January. Many people swap to evergreens after Thanksgiving. Store the flowers flat in a box in a dry place, and bend the stems back into shape in spring.
